Palm Springs Airport Expansion: A Step Toward the Future
The Palm Springs City Council has approved a multi-billion dollar upgrade and expansion of the airport, signaling the valley’s continued growth. With 14 new gates, car rental centers, and more parking, this project aims to accommodate the increasing demand as the area evolves. Airport revenue, federal grants, and rental car fees will fund the expansion.

Experts like Katrina Dixon acknowledge the inevitability of such projects, noting that Palm Springs has already changed significantly, and the airport is now expanding to fit that reality. Doug Baker adds that the ultimate goal for the airport is to become a five-star facility, similar to Houston’s only five-star airport in North America. While some residents may be hesitant about the changes, it's clear that a forward-thinking approach is needed for the valley's ongoing growth. The airport’s responsiveness to community feedback is key to gaining support and ensuring a smooth transition.

A troubling history is coming to light in a Palm Desert husband’s death. 65-year old Vicky Kim is accused in the death of her husband — but prosecutors say she had previously faced several domestic violence cases involving him. The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office says it had secured protective orders against Kim before a judge later resolved her cases as misdemeanors, released her from custody and terminated those orders. Now, Kim is expected to be arraigned in connection with her husband’s death. Court records allege the weapon used was a flagpole.
