Spotify and Universal Music Group Forge Major Deal, Lady Gaga Teases New Album "Mayhem"
In an exciting shift in the music industry, Spotify and Universal Music Group have announced a groundbreaking multi-year deal that brings together the world’s largest streaming platform and music label. This marks the first direct licensing deal between a major streamer and publisher in several years, covering Spotify’s offerings across the United States and several international markets. Although the exact value and duration of the deal have not been disclosed, it includes new paid subscription tiers and an expanded catalog of audio and visual content, further strengthening Spotify's position in the global music landscape.
Meanwhile, Lady Gaga has revealed the title of her upcoming seventh studio album—Mayhem. The album, set for release on March 7th, will feature 14 tracks, including previously released singles. Fans can expect a big debut of the third single and music video during a commercial at the Grammy Awards next month, further building anticipation. In addition, Gaga will be participating in a benefit concert in Los Angeles on January 30th, supporting communities impacted by recent wildfires.
In movie news, the Oscar-winning film Parasite, which made history as the first non-English language film to win the Best Picture Oscar, will return to theaters in IMAX starting February 7th. Directed by Bong Joon-ho, the limited re-release offers fans the chance to experience the acclaimed film on the big screen once again.
Jeremy Allen White, star of The Bear and Emmy winner, is set to executive produce and star in a new Netflix limited series titled Enigma Variations, based on the novel by André Aciman, who is also known for Call Me By Your Name.
And in a fun Hollywood story, Reese Witherspoon shared with British TV host Graham Norton that she served as a jury foreman seven years after Legally Blonde hit theaters. To her surprise, the other jurors unanimously selected her, thinking she had gone to law school. Witherspoon humorously realized during the experience that many people don't know much about the law.

Palm Springs is mourning the loss of beloved entertainer James “Gypsy” Haake, who has died at 94. Haake began his entertainment career at just 19 years old as a Broadway chorus dancer. After retiring from the stage, he returned to performing at 82, becoming the host of Carnival Cabaret at Oscars in downtown Palm Springs. A longtime friend of our station, Haake was a familiar and beloved figure in the Palm Springs entertainment community — and his contributions were recognized with a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars.
