Palm Springs Celebrates Black Authors, for Black History Month

The Palm Springs Public Library and Mizell Center co-hosted the event "Our Voices, Our Stories: Celebrating Black Authors" today to kick off Black History Month. The event began at 10 a.m. at the Mizell Center with a keynote speech from Jenifer Lewis, the award-winning actress and author from Black-ish. Following Lewis, authors Christian Cooper, Rasheed Newson, and Trisha R. Thomas participated in moderated interviews. A Creole and soul food lunch was offered to the first 100 registrants before the event moved to the Palm Springs Public Library. The Best Bookstore in Palm Springs was on-site, offering books from the featured authors and other local writers.
