Acrisure Arena in Coachella Valley has been known for its high-energy sports events and live performances, but now, the venue is earning recognition for its efforts to create a more inclusive environment for all fans. Recently, the arena achieved the Certified Autism Center designation, an important milestone that further solidifies its commitment to accessibility and inclusivity.
This designation means Acrisure Arena is now equipped with specialized resources and staff training to better accommodate guests with sensory sensitivities, autism, and other special needs, making it a more welcoming place for everyone to enjoy events in comfort.
Enhancing the Experience for Sensory-Sensitive Guests
For individuals with autism or sensory sensitivities, attending an event at a large arena can sometimes be overwhelming due to bright lights, loud noises, and large crowds. Acrisure Arena has taken this challenge head-on by introducing a series of new services to help make these environments more manageable.
One of the key initiatives is the introduction of sensory kits, which are available for checkout at the guest services desk near Section 105. These kits are designed to assist both sensory-sensitive and sensory-seeking guests, offering a range of tools to help them cope with the overwhelming elements of an arena environment. The kits include fidget toys for guests who need something to focus on, noise-canceling headphones, and even sunglasses in adult and child sizes to reduce light sensitivity.
Supporting Nonverbal and High-Risk Guests
Acrisure Arena’s efforts don’t stop there. The venue has also introduced additional resources for guests who are nonverbal or may be at a higher risk of wandering away from their party. In these situations, wristbands are provided to help locate lost individuals. The arena also offers feeling flashcards, which allow nonverbal guests to communicate their needs, whether it’s a request for a quiet space or assistance with something else.
These thoughtful additions ensure that all visitors, regardless of their personal challenges, have the tools they need to navigate the arena and enjoy the experience.
John Page, another key figure behind the initiative, emphasized the importance of partnerships with both internal and external organizations to make the designation a reality. “This wasn’t just about adding resources,” Page said. “It was about making sure everyone on the team was fully trained to implement these services effectively.”

A troubling history is coming to light in a Palm Desert husband’s death. 65-year old Vicky Kim is accused in the death of her husband — but prosecutors say she had previously faced several domestic violence cases involving him. The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office says it had secured protective orders against Kim before a judge later resolved her cases as misdemeanors, released her from custody and terminated those orders.
