Palm Springs Kicks Off Black History Month with Literary Celebration & Awards Gala

Palm Springs marked the start of Black History Month with a special event honoring Black authors at the Palm Springs Public Library. Titled "Our Voices, Our Stories, Celebrating Black Authors," the gathering featured Jennifer Lewis, the Critics’ Choice-nominated actress from Black-ish and award-winning author, as the keynote speaker. Following her address, authors Christian Cooper, Rasheed Newsom, and Tricia R. Thomas took the stage for engaging discussions about their work.

The celebrations continued Saturday evening with the 15th Annual Black History Awards Gala at the Hilton Palm Springs. Hosted by the Palm Springs Black History Committee, the event recognized individuals, groups, and businesses that have significantly contributed to the advancement of African Americans and society as a whole.

With a strong focus on literature, culture, and community impact, Palm Springs set the tone for a month filled with meaningful celebrations and recognition.
