Dining with Dogs: The Heated Debate Over Furry Restaurant Guests
Who knew bringing dogs to restaurants could spark such a fiery debate? On The Roggin Report, contributors Stephanie Miner and Chauncey Thompson argued against allowing non-service dogs in indoor restaurants, agreeing that outdoor dining areas provide an acceptable alternative. “I don’t think anybody wants to be out there with a big German shepherd unless it’s a service animal,” Thompson said.
Viewers had plenty to say. Some, like Steven, pointed out the ease of buying fake service vests online, while others, like Michael, took a stronger stance. “That pet can stay home for two hours while that entitled prissy owner goes off to show off,” he wrote. Meanwhile, Jeannie acknowledged her love for dogs but said she doesn’t want to dine with them. Glenn, however, admitted, “I prefer dogs over most people.”
Contributors Katrina Dixon and Anthony Turk had mixed opinions. Dixon, a pet sitter, suggested designated areas for dog-friendly dining. “People with allergies or phobias should be able to dine without worrying about encountering a dog,” she said. Turk agreed that pet-friendly patios are fine but drew the line at fancy restaurants. “I’ve seen dogs do their business on the floor,” he noted.
While pet-friendly patios are common in the desert, the debate over allowing dogs in restaurants continues. Whether your pup joins you for a meal or waits patiently at home, one thing is certain—this topic is far from settled.

Palm Springs firefighters responded Thursday to a report of a person struck by lightning in the Chino Canyon area. The person was transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Firefighters also responded to a palm tree fire in Chino Canyon that officials say was caused by an apparent lightning strike.
