Rancho Mirage Writers Festival Celebrates 11th Year
The Rancho Mirage Writers Festival marked the beginning of its 11th year on Wednesday, attracting a diverse group of award-winning authors, influential political figures, and cultural icons to the Coachella Valley. The festival, which spans two and a half days, has been described as "Coachella for the Brain" due to its gathering of notable thinkers and creators. With more than 70 authors participating this year, the event is a unique platform for stimulating discussions on literature and more.
Aaron Espinoza, the executive director of the festival, explained that this year's theme is tied to the upcoming U.S. semi-quincentennial, which celebrates the country's 250th anniversary in 2026. Espinoza remarked, "We're just getting the celebration started early."
Founded in 2014 by Jimmy Kabler, the Rancho Mirage Writers Festival has evolved into a cherished cultural event, transforming the Rancho Mirage Library and Observatory into a hub of creativity and intellectual exchange. The festival’s dynamic panel discussions offer an engaging experience for readers, allowing them to connect directly with authors.
With a focus on making literature accessible to a wider audience, the event is available for free live streaming through the library’s website. The Rancho Mirage Writers Festival continues to be a beacon for those passionate about books, storytelling, and the written word.
NBC Palm Springs’ Kai Beach reports from the festival, capturing the excitement surrounding the literary celebration.
