Cathedral City Police Seek Help in Fatal Hit-and-Run Case
Cathedral City police are urgently seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect responsible for a fatal hit-and-run incident that claimed the life of Ruben Mijarez, a 52-year-old Cathedral City resident. The tragic event occurred on January 25, 2025, when Mijarez was struck while crossing the road near the Ramon Road Bridge, just west of Landau Blvd, around 7:45 PM. After being found conscious in the eastbound lanes, Mijarez told officers that he had been hit by a vehicle. He was rushed to the hospital but, despite medical efforts, succumbed to his injuries this past Monday.
Although several bystanders stopped to help after the crash, no witnesses have come forward, and the suspect fled the scene, leaving authorities with few leads. Cathedral City Police have launched a thorough investigation into the incident and are now calling on anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has any information about the vehicle involved to contact the department. With no suspects identified, the community’s support is crucial to bringing justice for Ruben Mijarez and his family. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to help solve this heartbreaking case.
