Rain Arrives in Coachella Valley: Scattered Showers and Cooler Temperatures Ahead
COACHELLA VALLEY – Clouds have moved into Southern California, setting the stage for an incoming rain system that will bring scattered showers to the Coachella Valley later tonight and into Thursday.
The atmospheric river is funneling moisture into the region, with heavier rainfall expected west of the valley, particularly in burn scar areas, where mudslides and debris flows remain a major concern. A flash flood warning is in effect for parts of the Inland Empire and coastal areas, though the Coachella Valley is not included in the advisory.
Rainfall totals for the valley are expected to range from 0.2 to 0.4 inches, with mountainous areas seeing inches of rain. Snow levels will start at 6,100 feet before rising to 8,100 feet on Thursday, with up to 15 inches of snow possible in the San Jacinto Mountains near the tram.
Winds remain calm for now but will pick up on Friday with onshore gusts in wind-prone areas. By Friday night, showers will taper off, leading into a weekend warm-up with mid-70s on Saturday and Sunday and near 80 degrees by Monday.
