Coachella Valley High School Hosts Town Hall on Social Media’s Impact on Mental Health
In Rancho Mirage, the Coachella Valley High School Health Academy and HOSA hosted a vital town hall event on February 13, 2025, focused on social media’s growing impact on mental health. The event brought together over 200 students from across the valley to hear from a panel of experts about the connection between online platforms and psychological well-being. Topics such as social media’s role in promoting isolation, loneliness, and even self-harm were discussed in depth.
Attendees learned about mental health resources available to them and engaged in meaningful conversations surrounding the challenges of navigating social media in today’s world. The discussion highlighted how, in the post-pandemic era, online platforms have intensified feelings of alienation, as many people now hide behind screens, leading to a rise in negative behavior and mental health crises.
The town hall’s focus on these important issues was a powerful reminder that social media’s impact on mental health should be addressed openly, and that support is available for those struggling with the digital world’s darker side. The event demonstrated a strong commitment to fostering mental health awareness and providing students with the tools they need to stay resilient.
