The Roggin Report Squeeze Play
ROGGIN REPORT SQUEEZE PLAY FEBRUARY 13, 2025
Riverside County Animal Services (Rivco) has long been a source of frustration for animal advocates, often hindering progress toward better animal care and adoptions. Despite occasional promises of reform, the agency recently introduced a new obstacle for rescue organizations: they can no longer call to inquire about animals, instead being forced to email, resulting in delayed responses and, unfortunately, the euthanasia of animals before they can be saved. While Rivco claims to be working on improving its practices, the lack of immediate, proactive action continues to raise concerns. Meanwhile, community support for local businesses like Monster Shakes, which is facing hate due to its LGBTQ ownership, highlights the power of proactive action in the face of adversity. This same proactive mindset could save the lives of countless animals if applied to Rivco’s approach. It’s time for a change, before more lives are lost.
