Monster Truck Action Kicks Off at Riverside County Fair and Date Fest
Indio, CA – The Riverside County Fair and Date Fest is revving up with thrilling monster truck shows, and Tim O'Brien from NBC Palm Springs Sports Desk is ready to dive into the action. In his first year at the event, Tim got a chance to meet the driver of the Skull Crusher monster truck, which has made quite an impression. "It was awesome," Tim said, noting the cool factor of sitting in the truck. "I’m thinking of naming my Mini Cooper something similar."
Although Tim didn’t get the chance to drive the massive truck, he’s determined to make it happen by the end of the weekend. "By the end of this weekend, I’m going to drive that thing," he said, looking forward to the thrill. The monster trucks are part of the event’s offerings, with shows scheduled tonight, tomorrow, and a derby on Sunday.
The event features five race trucks, including the Skull Crusher and the Hillbilly Hauler, with two shows each night and rides available from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. "This is our first year here, so we’re excited to be part of it," said Otter, the driver behind the Hillbilly Hauler, noting that it’s been a great opportunity to show off the trucks and interact with the fairgoers.
Aside from the monster truck excitement, Tim shared his experiences with the food at the fair, admitting to indulging in fried Oreos and stuffed dates. "The food has been delicious," he said, though he added, "I ate about four fried Oreos in a minute and a half, so I’m not feeling 100%."
With a packed schedule of activities, including a rodeo and the monster truck shows, there’s no shortage of things to do this weekend at the Riverside County Fair and Date Fest. "Come on out," Tim encouraged viewers, promising plenty of fun for the whole family.
