Dr. Carreon Foundation Continues to Change Lives Through Scholarships
For more than three decades, the Dr. Carreon Foundation has been empowering students in the Coachella Valley, helping them access higher education through scholarships and financial aid. Founded by Dr. Reynaldo Carreon before his passing at age 91, the foundation has grown into one of the largest independent scholarship providers in the region.
With over 2,000 students benefiting from nearly 35 years of support, the foundation currently awards 80 to 100 scholarships per year, ensuring that more students have the chance to continue their education beyond high school.
Who Qualifies?
The Dr. Carreon Foundation is open to:
✅ Graduating seniors or current college students
✅ Students with a 3.0 GPA or higher
✅ Applicants who can articulate how the scholarship will help them achieve their goals
Each year, the foundation receives 400-500 applications, making the selection process highly competitive.
How to Apply
Students interested in applying can visit carreonfoundation.org to submit their applications. The deadline is at the end of March, so act fast!

BREAKING: Human remains believed to be those of 17-year-old T’neya Tovar have been discovered at a second site in the Salton City area, according to the Imperial County District Attorney’s Office. A skull and rib cage were found during a search involving Imperial County investigators and the FBI. Testing is still needed to confirm the remains belong to Tovar. The discovery comes one day after suspect Finebloom pleaded guilty to torture and voluntary manslaughter as part of a plea agreement that could result in a sentence of 13 years to life. This afternoon in Salton City, the FBI and Imperial County Sheriff’s Department were in the neighborhood of Abraham Feinbloom. Searching just after a plea deal was made to where Feinbloom agreed to show investigators where the remains of T’Neya Tovar are.
