Indio Seeks Community Input to Expand SunLine Transit with New Grant

The City of Indio is looking to expand SunLine Transit services with the help of a grant from the Low Carbon Transit Operations Program (LCTOP). The initiative seeks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while improving mobility options for residents.

The grant will allow for an extension of service north of Interstate 10, with community feedback playing a vital role in shaping transit improvements. “We chose accessible public areas for engagement to ensure input from regular riders and the broader community,” officials said.

While the current focus is on Indio, this project is part of a larger effort to enhance public transportation across the Coachella Valley. Multiple community meetings are scheduled in surrounding cities to gather further input.

SunLine Transit’s ultimate goal is to improve accessibility and convenience for all riders in the region.
