Indio Launches ‘Drive Smart’ Initiative to Improve Traffic Safety

The City of Indio and its Police Department are continuing their commitment to safer streets through the ‘Drive Smart’ initiative. The program is designed to encourage responsible driving habits for both residents and visitors, with an emphasis on following speed limits and promoting overall road safety.

Thanks to a $32,000 grant from California’s Office of Traffic Safety, the initiative aims to enhance traffic law enforcement and improve the analysis of safety data. City officials say these improvements will help identify and address traffic concerns throughout the community more efficiently.

“The goal is to make Indio’s roads safer for everyone—whether you’re walking, biking, or driving,” said an Indio city official. “This initiative allows us to better enforce laws and use data-driven approaches to target problem areas.”

The ‘Drive Smart’ program is part of Indio’s broader effort to reduce accidents and improve quality of life for its growing population.
