Above-Normal Temperatures Continue in Coachella Valley; Cooler Weather Arrives Next Week
Residents of the Coachella Valley are feeling the heat this week as temperatures soar well above seasonal norms. On Tuesday, Palm Springs hit a high of 91°F, significantly exceeding the average of 76°F for this time of year. Today’s forecast calls for temperatures ranging from 91°F to 95°F, with Palm Springs expected to reach 94°F, just shy of the record high of 95°F set in 1986.
Other expected highs today include:
🌡️ 93°F in Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, and La Quinta
🌡️ 92°F in Palm Desert
🌡️ 90°F in Desert Hot Springs
The culprit behind this warm, dry pattern is a high-pressure system in the upper atmosphere, creating sinking air and suppressing cloud formation. The Walter Clark 111 cam shows clear skies dominating the region, with no rain in sight for the Coachella Valley.
Humidity levels will plummet to single digits midweek, making conditions exceptionally dry. Winds will remain light through Wednesday but could pick up Thursday, especially through the San Gorgonio Pass and Desert Hot Springs, before calming by the weekend.
Cooler Weather on the Horizon:
A cutoff low-pressure system moving into the Southwest will lower temperatures starting this weekend. Forecast models suggest:
🌦️ Saturday/Sunday: Slight chance of light rain to the west and north of the valley (minimal accumulation expected).
🌡️ Sunday: Highs dip into the upper 70s.
🌡️ Monday: Temperatures cool further, bringing low to mid-70s back to the region.
Comfort Air 70 Forecast:
☀️ Today - Wednesday: Low to mid-90s, sunny, very dry
💨 Thursday - Saturday: Highs in the 80s, breezy at times
🌤️ Sunday - Monday: Highs return to the 70s, bringing more seasonal temperatures
