Award-Winning Author Rosie J. Pova Redefines Failure in Children’s Literature

Today on Desert Living, we sat down with award-winning children's author and writing coach Rosie J. Pova, who is redefining how kids, parents, and educators approach failure and success.

Her celebrated book, The School of Failure, A Story of Success, challenges traditional views on learning and growth, encouraging children to see failure as a stepping stone rather than a setback. “I wanted a title that flipped the script,” Pova explained. “We usually associate school with learning to succeed, but I wanted to explore how failure leads to success.”

Pova also highlighted a free teacher’s guide available for educators, which includes classroom activities designed to align with curriculum goals. Teachers can download it on her website, rosiejpova.com.

Looking ahead, Pova is preparing to release her latest book, Sally’s Musical Tale, in early April. The story follows an ambitious snake named Sally who dreams of playing the piano, despite the obstacles in her way. “She’s determined and doesn’t take no for an answer,” Pova shared.
