Cooler Temps & Light Rain Hit the Coachella Valley, Weekend Warm-Up Ahead

Happy Wednesday, Coachella Valley! A live look at the Walter Clark Highway 111 Cam in Rancho Mirage shows a stunning sunset, though the weather is taking a cooler turn. If you're visiting for the BNP Paribas Open—welcome! But sorry about the rain.

Today’s high reached 74°F, slightly below average for this time of year, and temperatures will continue to dip as we head into Thursday and Friday. Overnight lows are expected to drop into the low 50s, with Thursday’s highs only reaching the 60s. While that may not be cold for Colorado, it’s chilly for the desert!

A storm system moving through Southern California will bring light rain to the Coachella Valley. The latest high-resolution models indicate sprinkles starting near Thousand Palms on Wednesday evening, with more measurable rain arriving by early Thursday morning. Showers are expected between 7 AM and 9 AM, primarily impacting the northern part of the valley and the San Gorgonio Pass. Total rainfall is expected to be around a tenth of an inch.

Meanwhile, mountain areas will see the biggest snowfall of the season, with Snow Summit expecting up to 10 inches. Gusty winds will also persist through Friday before conditions clear up.

Looking ahead, the Comfort Air Seven-Day Forecast shows a weekend warm-up, with temperatures climbing back into the 80s by Sunday. So, if you're braving the rain, just hang tight—better weather is on the way!
