Amazon Prime Video Tests AI Dubbing for Multilingual Content
Amazon Prime Video is stepping into the world of AI-powered dubbing, testing a system that translates select content into multiple languages. The feature is being rolled out on dozens of licensed movies and shows, with initial translations available in English and Latin American Spanish.
Unlike fully automated AI dubbing, Amazon describes this as an AI-aided process, meaning the system will generate the first pass of the dub, while human professionals refine it for accuracy and natural speech. This hybrid approach aims to improve efficiency while maintaining quality.
As streaming services compete for global audiences, AI-driven localization could help platforms expand their content offerings to non-native speakers more quickly.
Amazon has not yet confirmed when or if the AI dubbing feature will expand to additional languages or regions.
