Dinah the Support Dog Helps Teach Kids Valuable Lessons During Read Across America Week

During Read Across America Week, students at The Learning Tree got a special visit from the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office—and a furry guest stole the show. Dinah, the emotional support dog, joined the DA’s team in the classroom, helping teach students about making smart choices and exploring career opportunities.

The visit was part of the DA’s crime prevention initiative, which focuses on keeping kids engaged in school and providing them with resources for success.
"Our whole goal is to keep kids in school and out of the criminal justice system in the first place," a representative from the DA’s office shared.

Dinah played a key role in making the presentation engaging and memorable.
"She creates a really calming environment and helps keep the kids' attention when discussing serious topics," officials explained.

Students not only learned about responsibility and decision-making, but they also got to interact with Dinah, learning fun facts about emotional support dogs.

The DA’s office currently has additional support dogs, including one in Indio, and is working to expand the program with two more support canines.
