Desert X 2024 Kicks Off, Showcasing Global Artists Across the Coachella Valley
The Desert X 2024 art series officially opens tomorrow, featuring large-scale art installations displayed across the Coachella Valley. Running through May 11th, the internationally recognized event brings together artists from around the world, transforming the desert landscape into an open-air gallery.
This year’s theme explores the desert’s deep time evolution and the role of emerging technologies in contemporary society. Artists will use the natural surroundings to create thought-provoking works that highlight the intersection of nature, history, and technology.

Palm Springs firefighters responded Thursday to a report of a person struck by lightning in the Chino Canyon area. The person was transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Firefighters also responded to a palm tree fire in Chino Canyon that officials say was caused by an apparent lightning strike. Estevan Figueroa of King’s Club Barbershop is giving back across the Coachella Valley — one haircut at a time.
