An NBC Palm Springs Precipitation Forecast! (2025-10-03)
We'll be tracking two low-pressure systems and their paths across the Southwest this week.
There will be some rain as a closed upper-level low moves East over Southern California on Tuesday, but I'm expecting only a few widely scattered showers for the Coachella Valley... if anything at all.
As this system exits SoCal on Wednesday, the Valley will get a brief break under partly cloudy skies before another low arrives the next day. And with a saturated atmosphere, those rain totals should increase.
The Southland will not only see significant rain totals (and a few possible mountain thunderstorms) with this cold-core low, but the Valley could rack-up between two-tenths and four-tenths of an inch of rain on Thursday.
Add to that, I'm forecasting quite a bit of snow above 6000-feet. The Tram could see nine-inches of new snow by Friday morning.
Both systems will play a role in pulling our daytime highs to below-normal levels all-week long, beginning Tuesday. Our two coolest afternoons will be this Thursday and Friday as highs struggle to make their way into the lower-60s.
