AMDOCS Film Festival Returns to Palm Springs for 14th Year
The American Documentary and Animation Film Festival (AMDOCS) is set to return to Palm Springs for its highly anticipated 14th year. Known for showcasing independent films from across the globe, this festival offers a platform for filmmakers to display their work and even potentially earn Oscar consideration. The event will take place at the Palm Springs Cultural Center from March 27th to 31st, with a notable increase in submissions this year, setting a record of over 240 films from 60 countries.
What began with just 59 films in its first season has grown exponentially, and AMDOCS is now recognized as the largest documentary and animation festival on the West Coast. The festival's director emphasized that the goal is to bring awareness, culture, and education to the Palm Springs community. With its Oscar-qualifying status, the event is not only a local highlight but also a prestigious international gathering for filmmakers.
In addition to the films from global filmmakers, local voices will also be heard, with films from residents of the Coachella Valley being featured. NBC Palm Springs reporter Olivia is excited to have her own specials, "Restoring the Salton Sea" and "Tribes of the Coachella Valley," selected for screening. Olivia expressed her gratitude to the festival team for including her work in this year’s lineup.
The festival also celebrates the next generation of filmmakers. Henley, a high school senior with big aspirations in editing, will have her work showcased as part of the event. She will share her experiences next week, giving insight into her journey and goals for the future.

Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery are one step closer to completing their $110 billion merger after a coalition of 12 state attorneys general reached a settlement with Paramount. A high-speed police chase in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, came to a dramatic end when the vehicle plunged into Lake Como. Dashcam video released by police shows the pursuit before the car crashes into the water. Four people inside the vehicle were pulled from the lake with no serious injuries reported.
