An NBC Palm Springs Weather Heads-Up on Thursday, March 13, 2025!
As a cold front moves through the area today, the Southwest will experience rain, snow, wind and cooler air.
The heaviest precipitation will fall over our mountains and from the Inland Empire to the Coast where a Flood Watch is underway. The Coachella Valley will see scattered showers with totals between a tenth and two-tenths-of-an-inch before skies begin clearing-out this evening.
There will be lots of snow as well. Our freezing-levels will fall to around 4000-feet this afternoon which means rain changing to flurries at Idyllwild while The Tram picks-up around a foot of new snow. A Winter Storm Warning has been posted for those areas.
This disturbance will also kick-up the winds. A Wind Advisory has been posted for the very West end of the Valley into the San Gorgonio Pass and Inland Empire. This also includes area mountains, Eastern Riverside County and the High Desert.
Valley high temps will remain on the cool-side as those numbers struggle to make their way into the lower-60s this afternoon. But hang-in there, as our sunshine returns this weekend along with midday temps in the 70s.
