Meet the St. Louis Cannamoms: Game Night, Motherhood, and Breaking the Cannabis Stigma
In Missouri, where recreational cannabis has been legal since late 2022, a growing community of moms is flipping the script on parenting, self-care, and cannabis use. Meet the St. Louis Cannamoms, a group that gathers every few months for “Cannamom Game Night”—a kid-free evening of games, laughter, friendship, and yes, cannabis.
Organized by Jessica Carroll and Kimberly Kesterson, the group offers moms a safe space to unwind and connect. “It’s a chance to step away, give yourself some time, and do some self-care,” says Carroll. “Being a mom is hard, and it’s easy to feel like you have to be perfect all the time.”
The idea behind Cannamoms isn’t just about getting high—it’s about community and support. For many, cannabis is a tool to manage stress and improve patience, especially after long days with their children. “It helps me calm down and handle situations better,” one mom shares. “I use it at night, once my kids are in bed. It’s like watering myself, like a plant.”
Despite growing acceptance, these moms say the stigma still exists. They often face criticism or are labeled as “bad moms” simply for using cannabis. “No one blinks at wine moms,” Kesterson says. “Why should cannabis moms be treated any differently?”
The group now has over 4,000 members on Facebook and does more than socialize—they provide donations to moms in need, creating a strong support network that many say feels like family.
While cannabis remains illegal at the federal level, and the CDC cautions against its risks, the Cannamoms continue to advocate for responsible use, education, and compassion.
“I’m confident in who I am and how I parent,” one mother says. “If someone wants to judge me for using cannabis, that’s on them. I know I’m doing my best—and I’m not alone.” (CNN Newsource)

Under the plea deal obtained by the Imperial County Criminal Courthouse, Feinbloom will plead guilty to one count of torture and voluntary manslaughter.
