ARF Academy Awards Luncheon Supports Seniors and Pets Through Pet Ministry of Palm Springs

The annual ARF Academy Awards Luncheon is happening now at Agua Caliente Casino in Cathedral City, and it’s all for a heartwarming cause — supporting the Pet Ministry of Palm Springs.

NBC Palm Springs’ Mary Strong is live at the event, where more than 100 guests are gathered to celebrate and raise funds. The Pet Ministry provides vital services to local seniors, helping them keep their beloved pets at home by covering the cost of pet food, expensive vet bills, and even temporary care when seniors are hospitalized.

A major highlight of the luncheon is the Fido Fashion Show, featuring 11 adorable, adoptable dogs from the Coachella Valley Animal Campus. The dogs wear adoption vests and strut their stuff in hopes of finding forever homes. The show also spotlights the Fido Program, which allows community members to take shelter dogs out for a day of fun, walks, and exposure — increasing their chances of adoption.

In addition to the fashion show, a silent auction is underway, with all proceeds benefiting the Pet Ministry’s mission.

Mary also shared a reminder: If you're a senior in need of help caring for a pet, or considering giving up your animal, the Pet Ministry is here to help. Instead of surrendering your pet to a shelter, reach out to this incredible organization for support.
