Red Barn Reopens in Palm Desert After 2020 Fire, Welcomes Crowds Back With a Fresh Vibe
It was a night of celebration and community at the Red Barn in Palm Desert, as the iconic bar officially reopened its doors following a fire that forced its closure back in 2020.
With a line stretching out the door and a packed crowd inside, the grand reopening proved just how much the community had missed the beloved local hangout.
NBC Palm Springs was there for the festivities, where the atmosphere was filled with music, cocktails, and excitement. The owner shared their gratitude and vision for the refreshed space.
“It’s amazing. The community has really embraced us, and we’re super excited about it,” they said. “It’s a very different Red Barn. We created an atmosphere that’s got a good vibe, good music, great cocktails, and a fun place to hang. Open to everybody, welcoming to everybody.”
The new Red Barn features an upgraded look and feel, while still maintaining its welcoming, down-to-earth charm that locals have loved for years.
Red Barn is now open daily from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Palm Springs is mourning the loss of beloved entertainer James “Gypsy” Haake, who has died at 94. Haake began his entertainment career at just 19 years old as a Broadway chorus dancer. After retiring from the stage, he returned to performing at 82, becoming the host of Carnival Cabaret at Oscars in downtown Palm Springs. A longtime friend of our station, Haake was a familiar and beloved figure in the Palm Springs entertainment community — and his contributions were recognized with a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars.
