Gas Prices Climb in Riverside as Regional Averages Continue to Rise

Gas prices continue to rise in Riverside County, marking the eighth consecutive day of increases. The average price per gallon has jumped 18.7 cents over the past week, now sitting at approximately $4.68, according to AAA.

While that’s six cents higher than last month, it’s still 34 cents less than this time last year. Analysts point to a combination of seasonal demand and refinery production changes as factors contributing to the steady uptick.

At the same time, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department remains under public and legal scrutiny. The department has been under investigation by California Attorney General Rob Bonta since a sharp rise in in-custody deaths was reported in 2022. The ongoing investigation continues to examine conditions and accountability within county detention facilities.

As both fuel costs and law enforcement oversight dominate local headlines, Riverside County residents are feeling pressure both at the pump and in public trust.
