Cal Fire says the vegetation fire that began around 11:02 A.M. this morning on the 68000 block of Lincoln Street in Mecca, California, has grown significantly, now burning approximately 25 acres of heavy brush. Officials say the fire is spreading at a moderate rate, aided by winds, and firefighters are working diligently to contain the blaze. The Morongo Fire has provided additional support with one engine, and the Imperial Irrigation District (IID) has also been requested to assist.

In response to the fire’s rapid spread, an evacuation order remains in effect for the region north of Avenue 69, south of Avenue 67, west of Lincoln Street, and east of Avenue 86. Residents in this zone are urged to evacuate immediately to ensure their safety.

As firefighting efforts continue, authorities are warning that the fire may require an extended response time. Residents in surrounding areas should stay tuned for further updates as the situation develops.
