Pantry to the People Food Drive Sees Strong Community Support Throughout The Coachella Valley

The Pantry to the People Food Drive drew strong community support throughout the Coachella Valley. The event, which began at 7 a.m. and ran until 7 p.m., took place at two key locations—outside Albertsons Grocery Stores in both Palm Desert and Palm Springs.

Organized in partnership with the NBC Palm Springs, Sunline Transit Agency, Albertsons, and 106.9 FM, the food drive is dedicated to supporting families in need by collecting non-perishable food items and essential supplies. Volunteers, including Michael Passmore from the Community Center Food Bank in Palm Springs, stress the importance of donations such as bagged rice, dried beans, canned meats, and toiletries. These items are vital for families struggling to put together complete and nutritious meals.

Collected goods are taken to a distribution center in Palm Springs, where they are sorted and packed before being distributed through a drive-through service. Organizers and volunteers have witnessed firsthand the gratitude of recipients, underscoring the necessity of continued community participation.
