Become a Tour Guide at Sunnylands: A Unique Opportunity for College Students
Sunnylands Center and Gardens in Rancho Mirage is inviting college students to apply for its tour guide program, offering a blend of work experience and educational benefits. The program is designed to engage students in the interpretation of the Annenberg estate, gardens, and history while equipping them with critical skills. Directed by Mickalene Gallagher, the program recruits students to act as guides rather than traditional docents. Over a month-long training period, these students learn to manage visitor interactions, operate the front desk, and share insights about the estate's rich history.
Participants not only receive competitive compensation but also gain college credits, making it a valuable opportunity for personal and academic growth. The program emphasizes flexibility, ensuring that students' academic commitments come first. Through this real-world experience, guides often transform from hesitant speakers into confident communicators, developing skills that are beneficial for their future careers. The program fosters a sense of community, enabling students to connect with people from diverse backgrounds while immersing themselves in the cultural narrative of the Annenbergs.
In summary, the Sunnylands tour guide program offers a unique combination of education, employment, and personal development for college students in the area, encouraging those who are interested to apply and become part of an enriching experience.

Remembering and honoring the loved ones we’ve lost. ❤️ Dia de los Muertos is about more than mourning — it’s a time to celebrate the lives, memories and traditions of those who will always remain in our hearts. We spoke with Mateo Gomez of Forest Lawn about the importance of keeping those memories alive and creating healthier conversations around grief and loss, including the stigma surrounding suicide. Join Forest Lawn for a special Día de los Muertos celebration this Monday in Cathedral City, from 5 to 8 p.m. Families are invited to come together, remember loved ones and celebrate their lives. #DiaDeLosMuertos #DayOfTheDead #ForestLawn #CathedralCity #RememberingLovedOnes #GriefSupport #NBCPalmSprings
