IRS, DHS Finalize Deal to Help Deportation Push
The IRS has reached a deal with homeland security officials to share sensitive taxpayer data with federal immigration authorities. As part of the deal, the IRS will turn over information on undocumented immigrants. People that homeland security says are already facing deportation orders, and being investigated for federal crimes. The deal is part of president trump's broader crackdown on illegal immigration. The acting IRS commissioner announced her resignation. Two current employees and one former say Melanie Krause accepted the agency's offer of deferred resignation. One source with knowledge of the situation said the controversial data-sharing agreement was one factor in krause's decision to leave.
