Trump Administration Revokes Legal Status of CBP One Migrants, Sparking Deportation Fears
A major immigration policy shift is sending shockwaves through communities across the U.S. The Trump administration has revoked the legal status of hundreds of thousands of migrants who entered the country via the CBP One app—an app-based entry point used by more than 900,000 people since 2023.
Under the previous policy, the CBP One app allowed migrants to enter the U.S. under humanitarian parole, granting them legal status to live and work for up to two years. But now, the administration has declared that status terminated, with migrants given just seven days' notice to leave the country.
“People were paroled into the United States through this legal process,” said an immigration expert interviewed by NBC Palm Springs. “Now, all those protections are being stripped away.”
The Department of Homeland Security is sending notifications to affected individuals, stating that those who do not depart immediately—and who lack a lawful alternative such as asylum, TPS (Temporary Protected Status), or a pending family petition—could face expedited removal.
Immigration attorney Claudio Coren urges migrants to be cautious. “My advice is: be careful what you say. Don’t acknowledge anything and never sign anything you don’t understand,” he said, warning that many individuals unknowingly sign voluntary departure orders without understanding the consequences.
For those unsure of their legal status or options, Coren emphasizes the importance of consulting an immigration attorney before taking action.
As this development unfolds, advocates are expressing concern for the humanitarian impact and urging those affected to seek legal counsel immediately.

Palm Springs firefighters responded Thursday to a report of a person struck by lightning in the Chino Canyon area. The person was transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Firefighters also responded to a palm tree fire in Chino Canyon that officials say was caused by an apparent lightning strike.
