New Playground Unveiled at Baristo Park
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the newly installed playground at Baristo Park.
Children enjoyed crafts, games, and hands-on activities throughout the day.
The event drew families, city leaders, and community members together.
Mayor Ron deHarte led the celebration alongside city council members.
They thanked the Parks and Recreation Department for their work.
The new playground features materials built for the desert climate.
Additional shade structures help protect children from the sun.
Inclusive play features make the space accessible for all.
Musical elements bring sound and creativity into playtime.
Fitness components were added to encourage active lifestyles.
City officials emphasized the importance of safe, modern parks.
The upgrades aim to make Baristo Park a community hub.

Palm Springs firefighters responded Thursday to a report of a person struck by lightning in the Chino Canyon area. The person was transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Firefighters also responded to a palm tree fire in Chino Canyon that officials say was caused by an apparent lightning strike.
