On today’s episode of Desert Living, we welcomed Meredith Sprecher, Director of Acquisition for American Home Shield, who shared valuable insights on why spring is the season to prioritize home care.
“If you’re anything like me, you use your home a lot—whether it’s blasting the AC or running appliances daily,” Sprecher said. “Regular maintenance helps catch issues before they turn into expensive or stressful emergencies.”
So, what should be on your spring checklist? Sprecher recommends starting with an AC tune-up, noting that nobody wants to be stuck without air conditioning when summer hits. Other important tasks include dryer vent cleaning, gutter cleaning, and window washing.

UPDATE: The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department have confirmed that one person has died and another two were injured after a home explosion on Ocotillo Rd in Twentynine Palms. Security camera video from a nearby neighbor captured the dramatic blast around 8:28 p.m., followed by a fire that brought a massive emergency response from fire and law enforcement agencies across the Morongo Basin. The burning structure has been confirmed as a residence at 6427 Ocotillo Ave. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation and the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Arson/Bomb Detail team is conducting the investigation.
