JFK Memorial Hospital Prepares for Coachella Festival Crowds, Assures Locals of Continued Care
With Coachella and Stagecoach bringing tens of thousands of visitors to the Empire Polo Grounds, JFK Memorial Hospital in Indio is preparing for a surge in patients over the next three weekends. Located just three miles from the festival grounds, JFK is the closest trauma center to the events and is a critical resource for festivalgoers and residents alike.
Hospital staff are anticipating a rise in cases related to dehydration, heat exhaustion, overdoses, and potential poisonings—common medical emergencies seen during large-scale outdoor events in the desert heat. Extra resources and personnel are being deployed to ensure rapid response to increased patient volume.
However, hospital leaders are urging local residents not to delay seeking care during this busy period. “Festival season does not impact our services to the community,” said hospital staff. “We are fully staffed and ready to treat all patients—locals and visitors alike.”
The hospital reminds the public to stay hydrated, use sunscreen, and be mindful of their health during festival weekends.

Nearly a year after wildfires tore through Mountain Center, the scars are still visible along the Palms to Pines Highway. Now, fire crews are working to repair those burn areas and reduce the risk of flooding, erosion and mudslides when heavy rain arrives. The work includes fire-line suppression repairs, water bars and other measures designed to slow rainwater and keep burned soil from washing away. CAL FIRE Riverside County Battalion Chief Ryan Lubin says the steep terrain, dry brush and limited access continue to create challenges for mountain communities.
