National Pickleball Month
At Rancho Mirage Community Park, pickleball isn’t just a sport—it’s a way of life. As the fastest-growing sport in the nation for the fourth year running, pickleball has captivated millions of Americans, and Rancho Mirage locals are fully embracing the trend.
To accommodate the sport’s explosive popularity, the City of Rancho Mirage recently converted two of its tennis courts into eight brand-new pickleball courts. With April designated as National Pickleball Month, players are celebrating not just the game’s physical benefits, but also the sense of community and connection it fosters.
However, as more people flock to the courts, injuries are also on the rise. Nurse Caprice Walker reports a noticeable uptick in pickleball-related incidents at her hospital. She encourages players—especially older adults—to stretch, wear proper footwear, and stay mindful of their movements to prevent accidents.
