Unlimited: A Wickedly Wonderful Tribute to Oz Lights Up the Palm Springs Cultural Center
The magic of Oz is coming to Palm Springs in a one-night-only celebration that promises to be nothing short of wicked. "Unlimited: A Wickedly Wonderful Celebration of Oz" hits the stage this Saturday, April 19 at the Palm Springs Cultural Center, bringing the beloved music of The Wizard of Oz, Wicked, and The Wiz together in a benefit performance for the center.
Corey Roskin, event co-creator, and Kim Schroeder-Long, one of the performers, joined this week’s Desert Entertainment to talk about what audiences can expect. Roskin, along with Doug Graham and the Cultural Center team, previously organized a 70s movie music fundraiser that brought in over $80,000—helping convert one of the center's theaters into a multi-use stage venue.
This year’s event is no less ambitious. “‘Unlimited’ features a full stage show with singing, dancing, projections, and theatrical lighting,” Roskin shared. “Doug curated the performance lineup, and I’ve been working on all the festivities happening outside the theater.”
The outdoor pre-show experience begins at 5:30 p.m., featuring a DJ (Tina Turntables), themed cocktails, a “Make Your Wand” station, custom Oz-name generators, and a photo booth. The main show kicks off at 7:00 p.m. in Theater One.
Schroeder-Long teased some of the musical numbers: “I’ll be singing Glinda’s part in a duet with Broadway star Julie Garnier, and yes—there will be a little Judy Garland in there too.” Known for her standout Judy Garland impressions, Schroeder-Long’s performance is expected to be a highlight.
Costumes are encouraged for attendees who want to immerse themselves in the whimsical Oz world. Tickets are $35 or $55, with all proceeds benefiting the Palm Springs Cultural Center and future artist programming.
