Wear Your Pajamas to Work? You Can on This Quirky Midweek Holiday
April 16 is here, and it’s filled with fun, food, and a little nostalgia in this week’s Hashtag Holiday Calendar and Pop Quiz, brought to you by Inland Empire Health Plan.
This morning, our team celebrated National Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day, a fitting tribute to those of us who hit snooze one too many times. The day is designed to encourage relaxation—especially after the stress of Tax Day on April 15. If you ever needed an excuse to show up in flannel pants and fuzzy slippers, today’s your chance.
Also on today’s quirky holiday list:
National Eggs Benedict Day – Legend has it this brunch staple was born in 1894 when Lemuel Benedict ordered his now-famous combo at the Waldorf Hotel.
Day of the Mushroom – The spore-bearing favorite is not only delicious but inspired the classic pun: “Guys who like mushrooms are fun guys.”
National Banana Day – Full of potassium, vitamin B6, and vitamin C—bananas are very “appealing.” (Yes, we went there.)
Today’s Pop Quiz kept the fun rolling with two banana-themed trivia questions. The first tested viewers’ knowledge of the beloved 1960s TV characters from The Banana Splits. The correct answer?
B: Flegal, Drooper, Snorky, and Bingo.
Then came a musical flashback:
What 1980s film featured Harry Belafonte’s Day-O (The Banana Boat Song) in a hilarious dinner party dance scene?
Answer: Beetlejuice.
