Drummer for The New Pornographers Arrested in Child Pornography Investigation

We’re following developing news out of Palm Desert involving serious allegations against a local man with ties to the music industry.

Deputies with the Riverside County Sheriff's Office have arrested 44-year-old Joseph Seiders after an 11-year-old boy reported being recorded in a public restroom. The boy alerted authorities, and two days later, staff members observed the same man entering restrooms with other young boys, prompting further investigation.

A search of Seiders’ home, vehicle, and phone revealed evidence linking him to the incidents and to child pornography. He was taken into custody and booked on multiple charges related to child exploitation. The investigation remains active, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Joseph Seiders is listed as the drummer for the indie rock band The New Pornographers, which performed at Coachella in 2011. A spokesman for the band had the following statement: “Everyone in the band is absolutely shocked, horrified and devastated by the news of the charges against Joe Seiders – and we have immediately severed all ties with him. Our hearts go out to everyone who has been impacted”
