Former OneRepublic Bassist, Tim Myers Announces Run For Congress In California's 41st District

Tim Myers, the former bassist for the Grammy-nominated band OneRepublic, officially announced his run for Congress in California’s 41st District Thursday morning. Myers, who grew up in Corona, says he's motivated by a desire to give back to the community that raised him.

Myers will be challenging Representative Ken Calvert, a Republican who has held the seat for over three decades. After the Democrat announced his running, the National Republican Congressional Committee released a statement reading in part, "Democrat Tim Myers is everything wrong with today's radical left: A Hollywood Liberal trying to fake his way into Riverside County.

Myers says his roots are anything but elitist. Before achieving fame, he worked as a janitor and a barista while chasing his musical dreams.

The father of two says his campaign will focus on affordability issues, like rising housing costs and everyday expenses that are squeezing families in the Inland Empire.
