Former OneRepublic Bassist Tim Myers Launches Bid for Congress in California’s 41st District

A new name—and a familiar face in the music world—is entering the political arena. Former OneRepublic bassist Tim Myers has announced his candidacy for California’s 41st Congressional District, running as a Democrat against longtime Republican incumbent Ken Calvert.

In a campaign video released this week, Myers didn’t hold back in critiquing Calvert’s decades-long tenure in Washington.

“Where’s my hometown congressman?” Myers asks in the video. “Ken Calvert has been in Washington for 30 years, and all he’s done is make himself millions. Status quo isn’t working. That’s how we ended up here to begin with.”

The 41st District covers parts of Riverside County, including cities like Corona, Eastvale, and parts of the Coachella Valley. Calvert, first elected in 1992, has been a consistent figure in Republican politics and is one of the most senior members of California’s congressional delegation.

Myers, who rose to fame as an original bassist and songwriter for the Grammy-nominated pop-rock band OneRepublic, has since built a successful solo career and production company. Now, he’s turning his attention to public service, signaling a shift from music to policymaking.

We reached out to Congressman Calvert’s office for a response, but have not yet received a reply.

As the race heats up, Myers is positioning himself as a fresh voice for the district—one that he says will focus on transparency, community investment, and a break from the political establishment.
