Leaders Outline Vision for Valley Growth
This morning, leaders from across the Coachella Valley gathered in Indio to discuss the region’s economic future.
The annual “State of the Fourth District” event focused on progress and possibilities across Riverside County’s eastern cities.
Guests were welcomed with the festive sound of mariachis before Supervisor V. Manuel Pérez took the stage.
Pérez shared updates on road improvements, expanded health services, and new affordable housing developments.
He emphasized that these investments are helping shape stronger, more resilient communities.
For many in the room, the event was also a chance to get involved in that growth.
Ellen Way of the Riverside County Farm Bureau spoke about the future of agriculture in the region.
She highlighted the importance of preserving farmland while promoting innovation in farming practices.
Health was also a key topic, with Marshare Penny of RUHS Public Health addressing regional health disparities.
She explained how local living conditions influence residents’ health outcomes and called for more community engagement.
The event served as a platform for networking, collaboration, and forward-thinking ideas.
For those in attendance, the message was clear—progress is here, and more is on the horizon.

Palm Springs firefighters responded Thursday to a report of a person struck by lightning in the Chino Canyon area. The person was transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Firefighters also responded to a palm tree fire in Chino Canyon that officials say was caused by an apparent lightning strike. Estevan Figueroa of King’s Club Barbershop is giving back across the Coachella Valley — one haircut at a time.
