Palm Desert Man and Former Band Drummer Arrested for Child Pornography at Chick-fil-A (UPDATES)
Authorities in Palm Desert have arrested a man with ties to the music industry on multiple suspected charges related to child pornography.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office, 44-year-old Joseph Seiders was taken into custody after an 11-year-old boy reported that a man recorded him in the restroom of the Chick-fil-A located in Palm Desert. Two days later, Chick-fil-A staff contacted authorities again after reportedly seeing the same man enter restrooms with other young boys.
A subsequent search of Seiders’ home, car, and electronic devices uncovered evidence linking him to the initial incident and to additional content involving child pornography.
Seiders is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday at the Indio Courthouse.
Seiders is known in the music world as a drummer for The New Pornographers, an indie rock band that performed at Coachella in 2011.
Following news of the arrest, the band released an official statement, saying:
“Everyone in the band is absolutely shocked, horrified and devastated by the news of the charges against Joe. We have immediately severed all ties with him. Our hearts go out to everyone who has been impacted by his actions.”

A high-speed police chase in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, came to a dramatic end when the vehicle plunged into Lake Como.
