26 Years Since Tragedy at Columbine

Sunday marks a somber anniversary in American history.
It has been 26 years since the mass shooting at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado.
On April 20, 1999, two students, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, carried out the deadly attack.
Their original plan was to bomb the school, but when that failed, they turned to gunfire.
They killed 12 of their classmates and a teacher before taking their own lives.
The massacre also left 21 others injured.
Columbine was one of the first mass school shootings in the U.S.
Since then, dozens more have followed, shaking communities across the nation.
The attack shocked the country and sparked a national conversation on school safety.
It also became a turning point in how schools approach emergency preparedness.
In the aftermath, calls for stricter gun control grew louder.
To this day, the tragedy remains a haunting reminder of the need for change.
