Engine Fire Forces Emergency Evacuation of Delta Plane at Orlando Airport

A Delta flight scheduled to travel from Orlando to Atlanta was abruptly halted Monday morning when a fire broke out in one of the aircraft's engines, prompting a full emergency evacuation at Orlando International Airport.

According to Delta Airlines, the aircraft was preparing to depart around 11:15 a.m. when flames were spotted in the tailpipe of one of its two engines shortly after pushback from the gate. The plane, which had not yet taken off, remained on the tarmac as airport fire crews quickly responded and extinguished the fire.

Cell phone video taken from inside the terminal captured flames and smoke pouring from the aircraft, creating tense moments for passengers and bystanders. A total of 294 people were on board—282 passengers, 10 flight attendants, and two pilots. Some were seen evacuating via emergency slides.

Fortunately, there were no immediate reports of injuries. Delta issued a statement saying that their maintenance crews are now examining the damaged aircraft, and the airline is arranging alternative flights to help passengers reach their destinations.

The Federal Aviation Administration has launched an investigation into the incident.

This latest scare adds to growing concerns over aircraft safety and highlights the importance of emergency preparedness. Officials at Orlando International Airport are working closely with federal agencies as the review continues.
