Isabella Caruso Completes 7th Boston Marathon Amid Record-Breaking Race Day

The 129th Boston Marathon on April 21, 2025, was a day of personal triumphs and historic milestones. Among the 30,000 participants was Concord's own Isabella Caruso, who proudly completed her seventh Boston Marathon.

"I just love this race; it's such a fun one. It's so special—like it's my hometown marathon," Caruso shared. "All my friends are out there, my whole family was out there." Despite the course's challenges, including the infamous Heartbreak Hill, Caruso pushed through, noting, "The downhills kinda shred your quads, so that was tough, but it was a good time."

Spectators like Meredith Johnson added to the day's inspiration. Johnson eagerly awaited her friend Tara Span, who took up marathon running at age 50. "She is someone who waited until she became 50 years old and started running marathons," Johnson remarked, highlighting the diverse stories that make up the marathon's rich tapestry.

The 2025 marathon was also marked by record-breaking performances. Kenya's Sharon Lokedi set a new women's course record with a time of 2:17:22, surpassing the previous record set in 2014. In the men's division, John Korir claimed victory in 2:04:45, joining his brother Wesley Korir, the 2012 champion, as the first siblings to both win the Boston Marathon.

As runners crossed the finish line on Boylston Street, the day stood as a testament to personal achievement and the enduring spirit of the Boston Marathon.
