Now the Agua Caliente Entertainment Report, brought to you by Agua Caliente Casinos. A new supernatural thriller has claimed the box office crown, knocking off the reigning champ in a tightly contested weekend.
David Daniel has the early estimates for the top five films in theaters.
In fifth place was Warfare, bringing in $4.9 million. The spy action film The Amateur took fourth with $7.2 million. Meanwhile, The King of Kings landed in third place with a $17.3 million haul.
After two weekends at number one, Minecraft dropped to second. Still, the family-friendly hit added $41.3 million, pushing its domestic total to an impressive $345 million in just 17 days.
Taking the top spot is Sinners, the action-horror thriller starring Michael B. Jordan in dual roles as twin brothers battling dark forces in their hometown. The film debuted with a strong $45.6 million opening, marking a successful genre shift for Jordan and director Ryan Coogler. The movie blends supernatural elements with themes of identity and justice, wrapped in a chilling Southern Gothic atmosphere.
