Arrests Increase During Coachella Weekend 2

INDIO, Calif. — The second weekend of the 2025 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival brought an uptick in arrests, but a slight decline in handicap parking violations, according to a crime report released by the Indio Police Department.

From Friday, April 18, through Sunday, April 20, a total of 128 arrests were made — a 14% increase compared to the same weekend in 2024, which saw 112 arrests. Law enforcement and concert staff worked in coordination to manage crowds and traffic, which remained steady throughout the weekend, with some congestion reported near the Empire Polo Club during peak hours.

The majority of arrests fell under drug-related offenses, with 53 individuals cited for possession of illegal substances. False identification was the second-most common offense, accounting for 37 arrests. Only 2 arrests were tied to alcohol or intoxication-related incidents, and no property crimes were reported. An additional 36 arrests were classified under "other" offenses.

While arrests increased, the festival saw a slight improvement in parking-related compliance. A total of 80 handicap-related citations were issued — down from 89 last year, a 10% decrease. Most of these violations involved the unlawful use of a disabled person placard, which accounted for 69 citations. The remaining 11 fell under other handicap parking infractions.

The Indio Police Department credited coordinated efforts among multiple agencies for maintaining safety and order throughout the weekend. The final weekend of the festival brought tens of thousands of visitors to the Coachella Valley, capping off another massive year for one of the world’s largest music festivals.
