Dining Out for Life Returns: Over 70 Valley Restaurants Support DAP Health
If you're looking for an excuse to skip cooking, how about dining out for a good cause? The 21st annual Dining Out for Life event has taken over restaurants, cafes, and bars across the Coachella Valley. With more than 70 local establishments participating, the event raises money for DAP Health, a nonprofit that supports HIV and AIDS treatment and prevention.
One of the standout locations is Eight4Nine Restaurant and Lounge in Palm Springs, where NBC Palm Springs News Director David Reese reported live from a packed dining room. “This event has become a staple in the community,” said Reese. “And per capita, the Coachella Valley consistently ranks as one of the highest fundraising areas in the country.”
Willie Rhine, co-owner of Eight4Nine and longtime supporter of the event, shared his pride in being part of the effort. “We’ve participated for nine years here, and I’ve been involved even longer through Willie’s,” he said. “It’s a cause that’s close to my heart, and tonight, every table is full. We’re going to be able to write a nice check tomorrow.”
Dining Out for Life isn’t just a local effort—it’s a national campaign—but the Valley’s participation is known to be among the most enthusiastic, with higher levels of donations and involvement than in many other regions.
Throughout the evening, diners at Eight4Nine enjoyed everything from Caesar salads to burgers and cocktails—each order helping fund crucial services for DAP Health. Many guests wore “Dining Out for Life” stickers, proudly showing their support.
The event continues through the night, and it’s not too late to participate. Head to your favorite restaurant or visit the DAP Health website to see the full list of participating locations.
